Once we were into town, we came across this staging area for animals. We stopped to render some aid. Here, Eric gives subcutaneous fluids to a cat near death.

At the same station, Dr. Trahan and Chad are giving fluids to one of a litter of cats that were in bad shape.

One of the most difficult lessons was the realization that the fearful animals that took this kind of effort to get them to come to you ate up valuable time that could be used to save the animals that were ready to go. So we learned that if an animal ran from us, we would try to coax it for just about 5 minutes, then we would leave food and water and move on.

This is a parakeet that was found in a home. It was in poor condition, but we gave some fluids under its skin, and it did well.

This is Oscar. So named because the only thing that would bring him close was Oscar Meyer Ham.
